Explosives in tunnels – New tactic against Hamas: “Death underground”

Date:

The Israeli army has a new tactic to eliminate Islamist Hamas terrorists in its underground tunnel network. According to Israeli information, 135 hostages are currently being held for the terrorist organization, probably also in the tunnels.

According to a spokesperson, the Israeli army is now using explosives to kill Hamas terrorists in the tunnels under the Gaza Strip. “We have new fighting methods that we will use to kill terrorists,” Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said Thursday evening.

Terrorists hide in underground tunnels
Hamas terrorists and especially their leaders hid in their underground tunnels. “We will enter, plant explosives in places where we know the terrorists frequent, and wait for the right moment to kill them underground,” Hagari said. And added: “The terrorists will not be safe underground.”

Many tunnels are equipped with booby traps
Under the Gaza Strip there is a kilometer-long network of tunnels in which, according to Israel, a number of terrorists from the Islamist Hamas are hiding and are also holding hostages from Israel. To withstand Israeli bombs from the air, some tunnels extend tens of meters underground. At the same time, the terrorists use them to appear out of nowhere and attack from behind. Many tunnels are booby-trapped to kill Israeli soldiers who enter them.

Another hostage body found in the Gaza Strip
Meanwhile, the Israeli army says it has recovered the body of another hostage kidnapped in the Gaza Strip, the army announced Friday morning. So it concerns a 28-year-old man who was kidnapped by Hamas and taken to Gaza during the massacre by Hamas and other groups in Israel. His family had been informed, it was said. The army initially did not provide information about the cause of death.

The army recently reported that 135 people were still trapped in Gaza. It is unclear whether the hostages who have now been declared dead are also included. Israeli soldiers have recovered several bodies in the Gaza Strip since the start of the Gaza war.

According to Israeli sources, a total of around 240 people were kidnapped in the unprecedented attack by the terrorist organization Hamas and other extremists on border towns in Israel. A total of 105 hostages were recently released as part of an agreement between the Jerusalem government and Hamas. In return, Israel released 240 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.
