Well, cheers! Two young people (14 and 15 years old) were caught by a shop detective in a shop in Ried im Innkreis with a suitcase full of expensive alcoholic drinks – there were 26 bottles. The duo turned out to be professional thieves. Both suspects were put behind bars.
The store detective raised the alarm with the police via an emergency call: on December 15, shortly before 1 p.m., a theft had occurred in a store in Ried. The two suspects were still in the store at the time. They were 14 and 15 years old, both Ukrainian citizens with asylum status. The two young people had a suitcase with them that was already filled with 26 expensive alcoholic drinks worth more than 2,000 euros.
Another shopping cart full of goods
Video surveillance also showed that they had already assembled another shopping cart with food and drinks. They were arrested and taken to Ried police station for further investigation. They were interrogated in the presence of an interpreter and lawyer and refused to make any statements.
Five more thefts
The investigations carried out by other police officers in the meantime allowed them to prove a further five thefts, increasing the damage to a five-figure sum. Further investigation into possible additional violations is ongoing. After consultation with the Ried public prosecutor’s office, they ordered the person to be sent to Ried prison.
