Visually, the Christmas tree on Graz’s main square has been delighting visitors and locals alike for weeks. But size also matters: And according to a comparison portal, the spruce in the Mur metropolis is the largest Christmas tree at an Austrian Christmas market.

The information portal Fraustest.com compared Christmas trees in 17 cities – and now the residents of Graz have it in black and white: the tree on the central square in front of the town hall is the largest Christmas tree in the country with a length of an impressive 29 meters.

Leoben in fourth place
Vienna comes in second (28 metres) and then Salzburg (23 metres). Leoben, another Styrian city, comes in fourth place. There is a tree in Montanstadt that is at least 20 meters high; the Christmas tree in Linz, Villach, St. Pölten, Klosterneuburg and Würflach is the same height. The average length of the trees examined is 18.94 meters.

By the way, the impressive spruce from Graz comes from Altaussee this year. She is about 80 years old and weighs a whopping 5.9 tons. 25,000 lights decorate the tree in the central square.
