A dog tied to a tree and her ten puppies were found abandoned on the Wienerberg. The furry friends are now being cared for at the Vösendorf animal shelter.
Shortly before Christmas, another heartbreaking incident occurred. A dog was tied to a tree overnight, with ten small puppies in a box next to her. A passerby discovered the helpless dog family and immediately took them to the Vösendorf animal shelter.
When they arrived at Tierschutz Austria, the little ones opened their eyes for the first time. The furry friends are likely Labrador mixes. The five males and five females were baptized Cnut, Anton, Alfred, Elton, Lorenz, as well as Emilia, Paula, Ursula, Michaela and Hildegard.
For the time being, however, the four-legged friends must spend 30 days in quarantine because their origins are unknown. “Once the time is up and the puppies are old enough and healthy, we will look for a new, loving home for both the caring dog mom and the ten little furry friends,” explains animal shelter manager Stephan Scheidl.
Animals are not a Christmas present
“This year we are registering a disproportionately high number of finds of young animals in our animal shelter, including both cats and dogs. As the holidays approach, we would like to emphasize that the decision to adopt an animal should be based on careful consideration and not on an impulsive impulse. Unfortunately, our experience shows that many of these animals end up in animal shelters in the new year,” the animal rights activist emphasizes and adds: “Keeping a pet takes time and patience, and at a time when the costs of food and the vet are an emerging financial medium.”
