After a Christmas party, a 21-year-old just wanted to go home to Bad Goisern (Upper Austria). But because the young partygoer apparently couldn’t get a taxi, he got into an unlocked van and drove away. When the stolen driver reported it to the police, the remorseful thief came forward.
Around 3:30 am on Friday, a 50-year-old delivery driver from Salzburg, driving a company car, reported that his unlocked vehicle had been stolen in Bad Ischl. A large-scale search was immediately launched. While the 50-year-old was being interrogated, the car thief called the police by telephone because he had a guilty conscience.
Drove it a little bit
The reason he gave was that he had not taken a taxi after a Christmas party. So he got into the unlocked van and drove it for a while. But he quickly realized his mistake, got out and called a taxi.
Once home, he calmed his conscience by calling the police. An alcohol test on the 21-year-old from Bad Goisern was positive with a blood alcohol level of 1.98. Therefore, his driver’s license was temporarily confiscated – reports to follow.
