A short-sighted card game in Vienna-Penzing turned into a wild brawl: a branch and a bottle were used by the fighters as weapons of crime. Police and rescue services arrived and took the men to hospital with serious injuries.
In the early evening hours on Tuesday, a bloody attack in Amortgasse in the 14th district caused a stir. After playing cards – which apparently followed an ultimately failed car purchase – a 36-year-old suddenly attacked his opponent (25) and eventually hit him with a branch in the street.
The alleged victim quickly produced a broken glass bottle, but the brutal ‘natural hammer’ outweighed it and the younger man fell badly hit to the side of the road. The perpetrator, who was also injured, fled the scene.
Large rescue and police contingent
Shocked eyewitnesses came to the aid of the apparently seriously injured man and alerted the emergency services. A large contingent of rescue and police personnel quickly secured the crime scene and took the victim to a nearby hospital. The search for the perpetrator was successful and the suspect was arrested a short time later.
First of all, he was also taken to a hospital; he suffered cuts. The police are investigating at full speed, further details are not yet known, it is said.
Dangerous threat to ex-girlfriend
An operation in Floridsdorf on St. Stephen’s Day also caused a stir. The 48-year-old was arrested and the “potentially life-threatening weapon” was seized.
