The threat of terrorism remains high in the new year due to the crisis in the Middle East. The Atlas network brings together Europe’s 38 special police units. In 2018, the Atlas Support Office was established in collaboration with Europol and has since been headed by a Tyrolean. The 42-year-old tells ‘Krone’ in detail what has happened in the meantime. For example, this year the network organized the international conference for special police units in Sweden for the first time – see also the video.
‘Everything together to protect you’ is Atlas’ motto. And it goes to the heart of what the purpose of the network is. The 38 anti-terrorist units – which also include the Cobra task force – must have solutions ready for every dangerous situation, no matter how dire.
