A clip from an influencer recently sparked a heated debate about the work ethic of Generation Z. Brielle Asero from New York posted on TikTok about her first day at work – eight hours a day in the office was “crazy.” Now the 21-year-old has lost her job. However, she emphasizes that this is not her fault.
The young woman tearfully recounted her first job – after her eight-hour workday, she had no energy left to meet friends, cook or even date. Hundreds of thousands of users gave the clip a ‘like’ and Brielle Asero received a lot of support for the video, especially from her generation. But there were also many critics who accused her of lacking work ethic.
“Termination is usually not my fault”
In a new video, she explained that she had already lost her first job after graduating just before Christmas. “It’s actually not my fault,” she makes clear at the beginning. She looked for the job for five months and moved specifically to New York City. But the startup she worked for didn’t have the resources to train her. That’s why she didn’t get any work she was actually hired for.
Looking for a job shortly before the Christmas holidays is a particularly difficult challenge, as application processes are halted and will not resume until the new year. Then it would take at least two to three weeks before we could start. But she needs a new job immediately; She was unable to build up any savings with her last salary.
Her last boss was very happy with her; the termination had nothing to do with her job performance. “I know I am a hard worker. “My boss literally said I was one of the smartest people who ever worked under him,” the 21-year-old continued. “I’ve done everything I could have done, but it’s still not enough,” she said, disappointed. She went into debt to study and still couldn’t find a job that would allow her to make ends meet.
Asero now wants to find a new job as quickly as possible and is also willing to take on a job as a waitress or nanny.
