Exposed concrete, elegant, simple white rooms, clear design: the executive floor of Andreas Pilsl, director of the state police, could be almost any headquarters if the federal eagle was not discreetly visible. Pilsl himself decorated his office with images of the sea. In the interview, Upper Austria’s top law enforcement official takes stock of the year and at the same time promotes the police profession, as the executive branch is increasing dramatically in number.
“Upper Crown”: Mr. Director of the State Police, the unrest during the Steyregg fire operation is incredibly upsetting to the public. What do you think?
Andreas Pilsl: Naturally, full information provision and decisive action are necessary if emergency services are hindered. We have instructed our district police commander to contact the fire brigade again and investigate the allegations, in particular regarding the obstruction of the fire brigade’s actions.
