As EITB has learned, the 50% discount continues to apply to both personalized and non-personalized Barik and temporary subscriptions.
After the controversy over public transport discounts, Bizkaia will finally extend the 50% discount to all Barik cards, including anonymous cards, and to temporary passes.
Tomorrow, Thursday, the Bizkaia Transport Consortium (CTB) will meet in an extraordinary manner to discuss the fare bonus. As EITB Media has learned, the General Deputy of Bizkaia and President of the CTB, Elixabete Etxanobe, will propose in this extraordinary council the application of a 50% discount on both Barik cards and temporary subscriptions.
All PNV members in the CTB council share this measure, so that its approval during next Thursday’s meeting is guaranteed.
In any case, the change will only come into effect in the second half of next February and will last until February 2025.
The PNV has adjusted its initial position, because it initially advocated excluding anonymous Barik cards and monthly bonuses from the discounts. In addition to Bizkaia, the PNV will promote similar measures in all institutions in the country.
