He slipped, which cost the life of a Romanian (46) from the Innviertel on Monday evening. The man crashed his vehicle head-on into an oncoming vehicle on Lamprechtshausener Straße in Eggelsberg around 4:30 p.m. All resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
The 46-year-old driver died at the scene of the accident. It is still unclear why he slipped.
The driver of the other car – a 51-year-old from Eggelsberg – had to be transported to the accident hospital in Salzburg with serious injuries after being freed from the wreck.
A total of two fire brigades, the rescue service, the emergency doctor, the emergency medical helicopter and the police were in action.
Road closed
“When we arrived, everything was already over,” reports Johann Molik from the Eggelsberg volunteer fire brigade. The Florianis recovered the completely destroyed vehicles and shielded the accident site from passers-by.
“The road was closed for about an hour and a half,” Molik said. Due to the fatal accident, the crisis intervention team was immediately called to the accident scene.
