On Tuesday, a 27-year-old worker was brought in by cable car while transporting wood: a trunk came loose and the man became trapped. He suffered a serious injury.
Around 7:40 am on Tuesday, four Austrians (28, 28, 27 and 34) were doing woodwork in Fügenberg near the Spieljoch middle station.
A 34-year-old operated the crane with which he stood on the forest path to pull up the tree trunks. He was supported by a 28-year-old Austrian who freed the raised logs from the snare. Meanwhile, a 27-year-old and a 28-year-old stayed about 10 meters further down to secure the logs with a sling.
Boom “freed himself” from the noose
Near a hill leading to the forest path, a tree trunk stepped out of the loop and slid back down, trapping the 27-year-old.
His colleagues were able to free him and called the emergency services. The injured man was brought to the valley by a mountain rescue and flown to the Schwaz district hospital with the rescue helicopter “Heli 4”.
The 27-year-old suffered serious injuries to his foot as a result of the accident.
