Wild scenes in the otherwise quiet Lochen am See (Upper Austria). An entire herd of oxen escaped from a farm there around 9pm on Thursday. The animals explored the area and, in addition to a lot of attention, also caused a traffic accident. A drone was also used to search for the animals.
What a boost in this small town. About ten animals managed to ‘escape’ from the meadow of a farm around 9 p.m. As they drove wildly through the area, one of the animals rammed a car. Fortunately, the driver was not injured, but there was damage to the car.
Fire brigade in action
The ox, although injured, ran away again and the Lochen fire brigade eventually managed to capture the animals and bring them home safely. “At first it was not clear whether all the oxen had actually been captured. We then requested a drone from the Schalchen fire brigade to carry out further searches,” says fire chief Franz Winklmeir. The search was stopped around 1 a.m. And the next surprise the next morning. “Suddenly all the animals were back,” says Winklmeir.
