Slipped – car falls 20 meters over the dike: five injured

Spectacular traffic accident on Wednesday morning in the Tyrolean Oberland: a car with five occupants left the road in winter conditions in Pians (Landeck district) and fell 20 meters over the adjacent dike. All injured passengers had to be freed by the fire brigade.

The serious accident happened shortly before 9:30 am. A 33-year-old German woman was driving her car on the B188 Paznauntalstrasse coming from Pians towards the lake when the car made a left turn slipped on the snow-covered road and went over the edge of the road.

“The vehicle then overturned and slid approximately 20 meters along the embankment before finally coming to rest on its side,” police said. In addition to the driver, there were four other German women between the ages of 33 and 37 in the car, who were “slightly to moderately injured” in the accident.

All occupants ultimately had to be rescued from the wreckage by the alerted fire brigade and given first aid by the rescue team. According to police, the car was a total loss.
