A 72-year-old man was injured and had to scream for help for an hour after he slipped while working in the forest.
The 72-year-old was doing woodwork in a forest in Matrei in East Tyrol around 12.30 pm on Wednesday. The slippery forest floor was the man’s downfall. He slipped and fell 30 meters. He lay injured on the ground and was unable to get up. Since he didn’t have a cell phone with him, he had to call for help.
An hour in the cold
Only after an hour did a passerby hear the screams and the rescue chain started. The injured forestry worker was located, rescued with a rope from the rescue helicopter C7 and flown to the Lienz district hospital with unknown injuries.
