According to the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, “a two-state solution must be imposed from outside to bring peace” to the region. According to him, Netanyahu has “personally boycotted this solution for the past thirty years.”
The High Representative for EU Foreign Policy, Joseph Borrellhas denounced that the Israeli government, in its attempt to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state, not only created but also financed the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas to weaken the Palestinian Authority.
Speaking after receiving an Honoris Causa doctorate from the University of Valladolid (UVA), Borrell defended the two-state solution and shamed Netanyahu, who has “personally boycotted” it for the past thirty years.
In this sense, he has emphasized that in order to prevent the creation of the Palestinian State, “they themselves have come to create Israel.” “Yes, Hamas has been funded by the government of Israel to try to weaken the Palestinian Authority,” led by Fatah, he noted.
Given this situation, Borrell has defended that “a two-state solution must be imposed from outside to bring peace” to the region. He warned that “if we do not take strong action, the cycle of hatred and violence will continue from generation to generation, from funeral to funeral, as the seeds of hatred sown in Gaza today will flourish.”
Finally, he added: “Today it is completely illusory to think of a Palestinian-Israeli confederation and the only possible solution, if we exclude the extinction of one of the parties, is the creation of two states.”
