The valuable resource of soil must be used more sustainably and efficiently. This is what the “Alliance for Soil Protection” is asking for and hoping for the strategic dialogue that politicians have long announced.
“Kron”: Four years ago, the state government announced a strategic dialogue on the topic of soil protection. However, this has not yet been implemented. How important would such a dialogue be?
Kerstin Riedmann (Ground Freedom Association): The strategy dialogue was a political idea and is also included in the current government program. We support this approach. It is important to have an eye-level dialogue between everyone involved. The challenges we face now and in the coming years require joint solutions from politics, business, nature and environmental protection and science. Intact soils provide a central basis for life. No land, no food. This should be reason enough to get more action on the subject of soil protection.
Manuel Kirisits-Steinparzer (Bio Austria Vorarlberg): There is an incredible amount of interest from many quarters regarding the grounds and open spaces. It is therefore essential that representatives of the various interest groups sit down together to reach the best possible compromises. A joint dialogue is a good start, but commitment is certainly needed to take appropriate action.
