Fatal accident – The 26-year-old Styrian dies while overtaking

On Saturday evening, a 26-year-old driver tried to overtake several vehicles on the state highway in Stainach-Pürgg in Ennstal, Styria. He lost control and crashed head-on into an oncoming car.

Around 6 p.m. the young man from the Liezen district was driving on the B320 from Liezen towards Schladming. Eyewitnesses report that he moved into the left lane to overtake several vehicles. After overtaking, he allegedly tried to steer the car back into the right lane. The 26-year-old may have lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle, driven by a 28-year-old, also from the Liezen district. Subsequent drivers started the rescue chain.

The 26-year-old died from his serious injuries
The two drivers were initially treated at the scene of the accident by road users and emergency services. The 26-year-old was then taken to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz by the crew of the Christophorus 14 rescue helicopter with life-threatening injuries. There he died of his serious injuries. The 28-year-old was taken to the Graz accident hospital by the crew of the Christophorus 17 rescue helicopter with serious injuries.

National highway closed
The B320 was closed to all traffic from approximately 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A local diversion has been set up. The completely damaged vehicles were removed by local towing companies. About 30 people from the volunteer fire brigades Stainach and Unterburg, six paramedics from the Red Cross, an ambulance team and the crews of the rescue helicopters C 14 and C 17 were deployed to the accident scene.
