Ukrainian Colossus – How Lenin Became a Great Waldviertler

Date:

Unique, bizarre and extraordinary cultural heritage: that is at the top of collector Christian Berger’s wish list. He managed to bring a five-meter-high statue of Lenin from Ukraine to Austria. He could have already sold a ‘little brother’ to the German Communist Party. This time, he says, even the American branch of the party is interested.

A sales advertisement on the platform willhaben.at is causing a stir, five meters high: it is probably the only statue of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin available on the open market and for sale there. The monument to the Russian communist politician originally comes from Horodok in Ukraine. Shortly before the outbreak of war in 2022, Waldviertel entrepreneur Christian Berger bought the 4.5-ton bronze colossus.
