Discrimination as a woman
But the woman did not want to tolerate this and turned to the AK Upper Austria. She intervened against discrimination based on her role as a mother at the employer. The company then explained that there were other reasons for the termination.

Ultimately, they reached a settlement to avoid going to court. “In addition to the compensation for the discriminatory termination, compensation for the termination was also due. In total, the woman received more than 2,800 euros in overdue money,” the AK said in a press release.
Not an isolated case
“Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. In our consultations we repeatedly hear about discrimination against parents. Although the demand for equal treatment applies to all people regardless of gender, the majority of women are affected by parental discrimination,” says AK President Andreas Stangl.
Deadlines not met
Violations of labor law are also on the agenda at the AK. As was the case with the mother from the Hausruckviertel. It was terminated without respecting the deadlines set. The settlement therefore includes an agreement to pay a termination fee. “Some employers have no respect for their employees. It is probably the minimum that claims arising from an employment relationship are properly billed and paid. Where that does not happen, we help the employees,” said the AK president.
