A sensational criminal case has been keeping police officers busy in the Mühlviertel since Saturday morning. In the Hochficht ski area, unknown people broke into three restaurants and two valley stations at night and took a large amount of loot. A key part of their coup was apparently a snowmobile.
The popular ski area Mühlviertel Hochficht impresses with its special location in the border triangle between Upper Austria, Bavaria and the Czech Republic. 20 kilometers of skiing on three slopes attracts skiers from three countries. Unfortunately, uninvited, criminal guests visited the winter sports area on Saturday evening.
Robbery of runners
The series of burglaries started at the Schwarzenberg valley station, where the unknown persons forcibly gained access through windows and doors. The building was searched for loot. From there we continued on a skidoo along the slope up the mountain, where the restaurant “Zwieseltreff” was broken into.
The snowmobile then probably went down the slope on the other side of the mountain to the hut “Gasthaus zum Survival”, where it was also broken into and looted. Another restaurant (“Fichtl”) and the valley station directly next to it were also not spared by the perpetrators.
Safes were also broken into or opened at the crime scene and cash and cigarettes were stolen. In any case, the loot is considerable: more than 70,000 euros.
Unfortunately, there is currently no concrete lead to suspects. The investigation is ongoing. The Ulrichsberg Police Station asks witnesses who may have seen something suspicious to provide relevant information by calling +43 59133 4261-100.
