The British government has imposed targeted sanctions on several Israeli settlers in the West Bank. As the Foreign Office announced in London on Monday, four people will be banned from travel and visas. Capital held in Britain is frozen.
“Extremist settlers are undermining security and stability for Israelis and Palestinians by attacking Palestinian civilians,” British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said in the statement. Britain has again called on Israel to take action against those responsible for settler violence, to free up money for the Palestinian Authority and to stop settlement expansion, the statement said.
Cameron: “We are very concerned”
Britain also called on Israel to “seriously consider” a possible offensive in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. “We are very concerned about what is happening in Rafah,” Foreign Secretary Cameron told reporters on Monday. “The people who are there have often been displaced four, five or six times. They have nowhere to go.”
