A small mistake with serious consequences happened in a small Kamptal community in Lower Austria on Tuesday evening, forcing a 13-year-old to be flown to hospital by emergency helicopter.
A grandmother wanted to leave with her two grandchildren and had already parked the car in the driveway. Only then did the woman want to pick up the two children, but she must have already put the car in neutral beforehand. The car then rolled of its own accord onto the slightly sloping driveway.
Strength wasn’t enough
The 13 year old boy noticed this and had the presence of mind to intervene. He ran after the car, but the boy’s strength was not enough to stop the vehicle, which weighed several tons. He was pushed against the wall of the house by the car, trapped and injured. The accident victim was quickly freed, but still had to be flown to the hospital in Krems. A fracture of the left arm was diagnosed there.
