WHO spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic assured at a press conference that the United Nations is already working with Israeli authorities for urgent access to the hospital.
“There is an urgent need to supply fuel to the hospital to ensure the continuation of life-saving services,” added Jasarevic, who has asked for medical assessments to be carried out to identify the center’s most critical patients and their “ safe referral” to other facilities. .
As reported on Friday by the Palestinian enclave’s Ministry of Health, four patients have been admitted to Nasser Hospital due to a total power outage, amid the Israeli army’s attack on the facilities.
In addition, he has warned of the suspension of the operation of the generators and stressed that “at any time” six patients in intensive care could die, as well as three children who need an uninterrupted supply of oxygen.
He also added that two women had given birth in recent hours “under inhumane conditions.”
The Israeli army, for its part, claimed this Friday to have detained “dozens” of people in the context of its attack on the Nasser hospital, and has pointed out that among them are twenty “terrorists” who allegedly took part in the attacks carried out. published by Hamas on October 7.
