The RAF terrorist Daniela Klette, who was wanted for attempted murder, among other things, has been arrested. The 65-year-old was arrested in Berlin on Monday.
A spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office in Verden, Lower Saxony, said on Tuesday that no further information was available about the exact circumstances. Klette is considered part of the third generation of the left-wing extremist Red Army Faction (RAF).
But Klette offered no resistance, Spiegel reports. She was publicly searched for, as were the other so-called RAF retirees Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg. The newspaper ‘Bild’ first reported on the arrest.
The trio had been in hiding for more than thirty years. The three former left-wing terrorists are accused of attempted murder, and in many cases it also concerns theft.
The RAF is responsible for 33 murders between the 1970s and the early 1990s. In 1977, she assassinated Federal Attorney General Siegfried Buback. Twelve years later, the then boss of Deutsche Bank, Alfred Herrhausen, was killed in an explosive attack. The terrorist group was officially disbanded in 1998 and was no longer active.
