Last year, superstar Kate Winslet filmed her new Sky series “The Regime” (starting Monday) in Vienna. She spoke to the “Krone” about her role as a fanatical autocrat and how she had to give up counting chandelier candles in Schönbrunn.
“Kron”:Your new series ‘The Regime’ starts next Monday on Sky, in which you play an autocrat who barricades herself in her palace. How did you experience filming in Schönbrunn Palace and other palaces in Vienna?
Kate Winslet: I absolutely loved it! Real. We had an amazing time in Vienna, the locations were incredible, the people were so friendly and the food was to die for. And the architecture: I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. Especially Schönbrunn. The ceilings were so high and I have never seen so much gold and so many chandeliers in one place. I tried to count the number of candles on one of the chandeliers in a hall of Schönbrunn Palace, but I had to give up at 130. It was a spectacular experience.
