An 18-year-old from Vorarlberg was sentenced on Wednesday to nine months in prison by the regional court in Feldkirch for beating up three nurses at the Innsbruck clinic in April this year after his girlfriend had surgery. The reason for the attacks was a joint.
The then 17-year-old drove to Innsbruck to visit his girlfriend (16), who had just had surgery. When she woke up from the sedation, she wanted to smoke a joint. The anesthetist explained to her that this was not possible. Nevertheless, the young woman got up and headed for the operating rooms, where further interventions were still underway. The nurse tried to stop her, the 16-year-old started screaming and fought back.
Nurse attacked and injured
Her boyfriend rushed to her and wanted to “help” her. He jumped the 35-year-old nurse from behind and hit him in the neck. As two other nurses rushed to help their colleague, the 18-year-old punched and kicked, injuring all three nurses. They suffered bruises, scrapes and bruises.
The man with three previous convictions confessed to the assault in court. He was threatened with a total of 29 months in prison, which was once suspended. However, only one month was withdrawn, meaning that he must spend a total of nine months behind bars based on the eight-month sentence. The verdict is not final.
