A nurse in Italy was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday for the murder of seven nursing home residents at an institution near Ascoli Piceno in central Italy between 2017 and 2018. The 58-year-old was found guilty of seven counts of first degree murder and one. attempted murder in a retirement home.
The nurse was charged with eight counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder. The nurse had always maintained his innocence.

He would have killed the patients by injecting insulin and psychotropic drugs, the judges ruled. The Ascoli jury also ruled that the man must compensate the relatives of his victims. The amount of the compensation is determined in a separate civil procedure.
