Two murders in Bosnia? – Lower Austria: cinematic escape plan with rope fails

Date:

In August, an 18-year-old was asked by his mother’s ex to help him escape from St. Pölten prison. The plan only narrowly failed. The boy claims he did not know why the 38-year-old was in prison. The judge in Vienna’s Landl: “You almost helped someone accused of double murder to escape.”

Paragraph 300 is not often discussed in the Viennese countryside. It says “liberation of prisoners” and carries a prison sentence of up to two years. On Tuesday, an 18-year-old in room 16 was accused of this. He wanted to free a 38-year-old Bosnian, his mother’s ex, from St. Pölten prison. Luckily it was an attempt. Because the unusual crime plan failed at the last minute.

“My client threw a rope tied to his car over the prison wall. He then drove away,” the prosecutor explains. “Mr. B. finally hit the wall, but then the rope broke.” The 18-year-old, who only has a moped driver’s license, was behind the wheel.

“I was stupid and naive”
The attempted breakout took place in August 2023. “He called me from prison. And suggested me to do this song. I was stupid and naive,” the 18-year-old admits in the lawsuit. “I was hoping that money would come out of it for me.”

Now judge Alexandra Skrdla drops the bomb. “Do you know why Mr. B. was in prison in St. Pölten?” The young defendant shrugs. “He should be extradited to Bosnia – he is accused of double murder!” says Ms Rat. “You almost helped someone accused of a double murder escape.”

“My client has confessed. “About the unusual prison escape attempt and the fraud,” said lawyer Noah McElheney, the 18-year-old lawyer in the trial before the Vienna Regional Court. There, the escape rescuer is charged together with the prisoner he wanted to free. And with four other boys. These involve several commercial fraud crimes involving luxury cars.

Luxury lease cars are resold
Here too, the 38-year-old and his ex-stepson worked together. Mr B. is considered the suspected mastermind. With the help of the young Viennese co-suspect, the 38-year-old leased expensive cars. As soon as the boys signed the loan agreements, for which they provided false pay slips, the Bosnian allegedly simply resold the very expensive BMWs and Audis. Regardless of the fact that they were actually off the bench.

The 38-year-old suspected double murderer has not confessed to the charges. He is now awaiting extradition to Bosnia in the highly secured Stein prison. The trial of the main defendant was postponed until May. His helper received 15 months, five of which were repaired.
