On Monday there was an argument between two young men on Keplerplatz. The argument was preceded by a spot on a park bench. The 26-year-old then attacked the 35-year-old with a knife.
On Monday morning, the police were alerted because a man was seen with a knife on Keplerplatz in Vienna-Favoriten. At the scene, officers found a 26-year-old with a pocket knife in his hand and head injuries, and a 35-year-old man with cuts on his hand.
Wounded in the head
Initial investigation revealed that the 26-year-old had thrown a drink in the 35-year-old’s face after stating that there was no space left on a park bench. As a result, the 26-year-old injured the 35-year-old’s hand with a knife, after which both fell to the ground and the 26-year-old was injured in the head.
The 26-year-old was temporarily arrested on suspicion of serious bodily harm. When police searched his backpack, they also found a plastic bag containing suspected cannabis and seized the murder weapon.
Riot at the police station
The two men initially received medical care from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service. At the police station, the arrested man then attacked several officers, kicked them and damaged a cell. He was taken to a prison on the orders of the Viennese public prosecutor’s office.
