A few years ago, huge, mystical monoliths that appeared seemingly out of nowhere in many remote places around the world caused a stir. Now such a metal monster has been discovered in a wasteland in the British part of Wales.
“When I first saw it I was a bit surprised because it looked like some kind of UFO,” explains Craig Muir, who spotted the structure on a hill near the town of Hay-on-Wye. He told PA Media: “It appeared to be a very fine metallic material, almost like surgical steel. The steel structure was about three meters long and looked completely horizontal and stable despite the windy weather.”
The nice campsite is remote; according to Muir it is impossible to go up the hill with a vehicle. Therefore, the discoverer believes that the monolith was transported there or flown by helicopter. “He didn’t look like he’d just been thrown there,” the Welshman continued. “However, there were no clear tracks around it and you would think something like that would cause a lot of chaos,” he told the BBC.
So far no one has claimed responsibility for the action – but it looks very similar to the monoliths that appeared in several countries in 2020. Columns originated in the American states of Utah and California, and similar metal blocks were later discovered in Europe. The anonymous artist collective ‘The Most Famous Artist’ claimed authorship at the time, but an Australian comedy trio also claimed to have placed the monoliths. They wanted to use it to promote a Netflix series.
