A momentous confusion occurred at an Alaskan elementary school. The children drank toxic chemicals because the jerry cans looked too much like the milk cans.
Shortly after breakfast on Tuesday, several students at Sit’Eeti Shaanáx-Glacier Valley Elementary School in the Alaskan capital Juneau complained of a burning sensation in their mouths and throats. No sooner had the teachers checked the labels of the supposedly organic milk, it became apparent that the children had been drinking floor sealant. The teachers immediately contacted the poison control center and alerted the parents. One child even had to go to hospital.
Confusingly Similar
In fact, the white plastic jerry cans are confusingly similar. Chief Inspector Weiss says the two containers are normally stored in boxes at an off-campus location. Yet somehow they were transported on the same pallet.
investigations are underway
The remaining floor sealant was removed from the school and taken to a hazardous materials depot. The company responsible for feeding the students sent a security team to Juneau. The investigation is still ongoing.
