Elections start Friday – Why Putin’s election farce is still so important

Date:

Kremlin czar Vladimir Putin will be confirmed as president for another six years from Friday. Everything is set up in such a way that only one election victory can result. There are no serious opponents, critical voices have been silenced. Krone+ reveals why the political farce in Moscow is still important.

The ignoble spectacle organized from Friday to Sunday (March 15 to 17) obviously has nothing to do with fair and free elections. All opposition figures who could have challenged the incumbent Putin are dead, in prison or exiled abroad. Independent media were silenced. The electoral process is firmly in the hands of the Kremlin, the 114 million eligible voters are staffed.
