Kim herself at the wheel! – The North Korean dictator shows off his latest tank

Date:

Kim Jong Un, the ruler of North Korea with Stalinist tendencies and a penchant for heavy military equipment, has found a new toy: a tank! The dictator himself introduced it to the public and even controlled it himself.

Kim wore a black leather jacket, greeted troops in camouflage clothing and watched live fire exercises from a command post, images from state news agency KCNA showed on Thursday.

Kim then “climbed into the new main battle tank, grabbed the control lever and piloted the tank himself,” the outlet reported. Kim said he was “very satisfied” with the “excellent offensive capability” of the new tank.

The North Korean ruler further emphasized the “importance of the role and task of tanks in modern warfare” and the “need to organize intensive exercises that simulate a real war.”

The presentation of the new tank took place on the last day of the annual joint military exercise between the arch-enemies of North Korea, the United States and South Korea. The maneuvers under ‘Freedom Shield’ include training in missile interception and air strikes. Pyongyang said last week that both countries would pay a “heavy price” for their exercises.

Moments later, North Korean state media reported that ruler Kim had led a large-scale artillery exercise with a unit that could reach the South Korean capital Seoul with its projectiles.
