The 83-year-old Upper Austrian was driving his car on the B122 in Behamberg (Amstetten district) on Thursday. Despite the double barrier, he would have overtaken the vehicle in front of him. He collided head-on with the 53-year-old’s oncoming car. All help came too late for the Hungarian.
Two other vehicles were hit or ended up in the ditch during the accident.
Three injured people taken to hospital
The 83-year-old was seriously injured and was flown to the hospital in Wels by emergency helicopter. The two other drivers involved – men aged 43 and 58 – were taken to hospital in Steyr with injuries.
