Ukraine says it has received more than 100 bodies of soldiers from wartime enemy Russia. The dead must now be identified and then handed over to their relatives, as the Ukrainian Coordination Staff has announced.
Mutual attacks were also reported on Friday. At least 21 people were killed and at least 58 others were injured. “Three children died – a girl born in 2007, a girl born in 2021 and a boy born in 2014,” the mayor of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine reported. A residential building was hit and a fire broke out.
Emergency services were killed
New Russian missile attacks were also reported in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa. “Unfortunately, as a result of the Russian missile attack, a medic and a civil defense worker were killed,” said the region’s governor, Oleh Kiper. The rescuers rushed to the impact site after the first explosions and were killed in a second rocket attack. Some of them were seriously injured. There are also reports of 55 other injuries.
A residential building was also hit in central Ukraine, two people were killed in Vinnytsia and three other citizens had to be taken to hospital. According to Ukrainian information, a total of seven regions were affected by the Russian attacks, including the Crimean Peninsula.
Attacks in Russia continue
According to the Ministry of Defense, Russia was also attacked again from Ukraine. Air defenses shot down seven Ukrainian missiles over the Belgorod region on Friday during the presidential elections (see video above). In the meantime, people would have had to leave the polling stations and take refuge in shelters.
An oil refinery was reportedly attacked by drones in the Russian region of Kaluga. The Ukrainian military service GUR is said to be behind the attack. Attempts to invade Russian territory have reportedly killed 500 fighters and injured another 1,000. However, these figures cannot be independently verified. Part of the armed forces also tried to reach Belgorod by helicopter.
