Great excitement among the little ones in Petzenkirchen, Lower Austria (Melk district): During preparatory work for an extension, a window was damaged by a tree. A child had to go to the hospital.
A loud bang, suddenly shards of glass everywhere, the children were running around excitedly: an incident during construction work caused a lot of chaos in everyday kindergarten life in Petzenkirchen, a town of 1,500 inhabitants. A branch had fallen through a window.
In the excitement, two children bumped their heads, causing one of them to get bumped. “We advised the parents to go to the hospital to be on the safe side. Fortunately, it turned out that nothing more happened,” reports Mayor Lisbeth Kern.
Trees must make way for new buildings
The accident happened during preparatory work for the planned expansion of the kindergarten. To make room for it, some trees had to be cut down. A branch probably ended up in the building for an unknown reason. A few weeks later, at least no child would have been left in it. Operation will be outsourced during construction work.
The groundbreaking ceremony didn’t take place until early March. Almost two and a half million euros will be spent so that there is sufficient space for the two-year-olds from September.
