Murder in erotic studio – prosecutor rules out “religious motive”.

Date:

On Thursday, the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office spoke to media representatives about the case of the three sex workers who were murdered on February 23 in an Asia studio in Brigittenau. “We do not assume a religious motive,” says authority spokeswoman Nina Bussek.

There is “a mental illness on the part of the suspect,” although this question will be clarified by an expert report, Bussek explained. On the one hand, the expertise depends on whether the 27-year-old, who is said to have stabbed the three women with enormous force, was even sane at the time of the crime.

The psychiatric report is still pending
In addition, the psychiatric expert must assess whether the man poses a danger, which would be a basic requirement for placing him in a so-called forensic-therapeutic center and thus in the implementation of measures pursuant to Article 21(1) of the Criminal Code. .

Identity of two victims clarified
As for the victims, the identities of two of the dead have now been established. “There is an Austrian and a Chinese citizen,” Bussek explains. She does not want to provide information about her age. The third victim may have been staying illegally in Austria; the identity of this woman is still unclear. All three women were “killed with multiple stab wounds,” Bussek said, citing the final autopsy results.

Mental abnormalities
Philipp Springer (Lessiak & Partner), the 27-year-old’s legal representative, had already described his client as a “mentally ill person” at the end of February. This assessment is probably supported by a brother of the man, from Afghanistan, who made himself available to the authorities involved in the case to provide information via video telephony. His information would show that the 27-year-old already showed psychological abnormalities before he fled to Europe.
