The Carinthian police have arrested a Moldovan-Romanian dual national (39) who is suspected of having committed a total of 180 burglaries since 2021 in various Carinthian districts, as well as in Tyrol and Styria.
Based on trace comparisons and with the aid of video surveillance, several series of burglaries were attributed to the initially unknown perpetrator and the identity of the suspect was subsequently determined. “The man, who is registered in Italy, broke into several businesses by forcing open windows and doors and stole money and gold coins worth several hundreds of thousands of euros,” the Carinthian state criminal police said.
It is also suspected that the 39-year-old also stole tools, coffee machines, alcoholic drinks and cigarettes worth tens of thousands of euros. “The total damage caused amounts to a six-figure sum,” says one researcher.

Following a European arrest warrant initiated by the Public Prosecution Service, the Moldovan-Romanian dual national was finally arrested by the Italian police in Italy on March 15.
