Spuiter confesses – Convicted of Mozart’s graffiti on the train

Date:

The Salzburg Regional Court convicted painters who left their works of art on two sets of Salzburg’s local railway line. The Public Prosecution Service is imposing a report on two other injectors.

Five young men between the ages of 19 and 28 are on trial in the regional court on Thursday – because of graffiti on two sets of the Salzburg local train: in addition to stage names, the young men also spray-painted a Mozart on the train – with a long nose and a peace sign. Everyone admits that they were part of the colorful prank act at Lamprechtshausen train station on the night of January 24. An ‘sorry’ is heard from all five in the interrogation room. “He had not taken into account the damage that would be caused here,” says one of the lawyers about his client. A representative of the Salzburger Lokalbahnen in the witness box spoke of approximately 12,000 euros in damage.

Two of the five injectors were sentenced to fines of 480 and 1,320 euros, three received diversion bans – they must pay amounts between 480 and 600 euros, after which the criminal proceedings are dropped. What everyone must pay: 500 euros in compensation each.

Indictment against two Walser sprayers
Two other sprayers from Wals (17, 18), who caused even more damage, must appear in court on April 19 for serious material damage. Florian Weinkamer of the Public Prosecution Service speaks of 69 cases and a damage amount of around 86,000 euros. Between November 2022 and December 2023, they sprayed paint on everything: from highway bridges and noise barriers to power distributors and house walls to S-Bahn trains.
