NATO member Romania has found parts of a drone near the border with Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Defense. These were discovered on Thursday evening in an agricultural area not far from the Danube in the east of the country. The incident is under investigation. On Sunday, a Russian missile entered the airspace of Poland, which is also a member of the NATO alliance.
“Fragments that could have come from a missile (drone) have been identified” near the town of Braila, the Romanian ministry said. Braila is located 30 kilometers as the crow flies from the Ukrainian Danube port of Reni, which has been repeatedly targeted by Russian attacks. Last year, Russian drones crashed several times on Romanian soil in this region. The last known incident took place on December 14, 2023. The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador at the time. NATO did not assume that Russia intended to attack the alliance.
According to Romanian media, the suspected drone crashed about ten kilometers southeast of Braila on a headland between two arms of the Danube (Great Braila Island) near a farm, which is used almost exclusively as arable land. An explosion crater with a diameter of four meters was created there.

Baerbock: Putin wants to involve NATO in the war
According to German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Russian President Vladimir Putin is heading for a military conflict with the Western military alliance NATO. “Putin’s goal was and is to destroy Ukraine’s existence as its own free country and draw NATO into a war,” said the Green politician from media group Funke (Friday). But the German government will never allow this. Putin is not available for arguments and appeals for humanity. “And he certainly does not want to negotiate,” said Baerbock.
