According to the Ministry of Labor data for the month of March, Euskadi is one of the few communities where the number of unemployed people has grown (2.09%). In the Foral community the drop is 3.46%.
He unemployment has entered March in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) and came by Navarre, according to data provided by the Ministry of Labor on Tuesday. In terms of membership, both communities have demonstrated positive values as the number of contributing people has grown by 1.76% and 1.62% respectively.
In concrete terms, the number of unemployed people grew by 926 people last month in Euskadi, 2.09% more than in the same month in 2023. In the Foral community the decrease was 194 people, 3.46% less than in 2023. Euskadi therefore closes the month with 111,471 unemployed; Navarra has 30,843 unemployed people.
The CAV, together with Madrid, is the only community where unemployment is increasing. Through historic areas, Gipuzkoa is the one who registered one greatest revival, with a year-on-year increase of 4.46%. Bizkaia follows with 2.46%. The best performance corresponds to Álava, with a relative decrease of 2.58%.
In terms of social security affiliation, Hego Euskal Herria has 1,317,942 contributors (1,012,128 in the BAC and 305,814 in Navarra).
In the whole of Spanish stateunemployment has fallen by 33,405 people, bringing the total number of unemployed to 2.7 million, the lowest level for a month from March onwards 2008the ministry emphasizes.
This year’s drop in unemployment is smaller than the drop in 2023, but higher than the drop in 2022, when war broke out in Ukraine.
Unemployment has fallen, mainly thanks to the service sector (tourism boost thanks to Easter) and the decline in unemployment among women.
Social Security added 193,585 affiliated companies in March, a record with 20,901,967 employees, almost 21 million.
