After months of investigation and several attempts at entry, the police were able to arrest a wanted con man with a spectacular action.
Since December 2021, officials of the State Criminal Investigation Service of Upper Austria, target search, have been investigating a 33-year-old from Linz, who had been subject to an arrest warrant for various acts of fraud and suspected resistance to state authority.
Escape by car
The suspect had previously escaped arrest several times by fleeing in a car with a lot of horsepower. In such an escape, a stoppage attempt also resulted in the intervening officers having to jump to the side so as not to be fatally injured.
Immersed in Romania
The 33-year-old kept changing residence and went into hiding in Romania in January 2022. He returned to Austria in early May 2022. Very extensive searches made it possible to investigate his current hiding place.
Entrance in Ennsdorf
On June 3, 2022, the wanted person was found in Ennsdorf around noon. Seeing the police officers, he fled into a workshop building and locked it from the inside. With the support of other police patrols, police officers from SIG Niederösterreich and DHI Linz, the man was tracked down in a covered assembly pit after the front door was forced open and arrested. He was admitted to the prison in Linz on the orders of the responsible judge.
