Horrible accident near Mondsee (Upper Austria). A driver crossed into the oncoming lane and struck two vehicles before crashing head-on into a large SUV. The driver was only rescued dead and another person was injured.
It is still unclear how it happened on Friday shortly before 10 p.m. on the B154, Mondsee Straße. A driver had passed oncoming traffic and collided with two oncoming vehicles, before crashing head-on into a VW Touareg.
The fire brigade found a field of rubble
The operations manager of the St. Lorenz fire brigade, Wolfgang Schachl, reported a confusing field of debris upon arrival: “When we arrived at the scene of the accident, we first had to get an overview because the four vehicles involved in the accident were widely scattered across the B154.”
Lenker died at the scene
One person – the person who caused the accident – died at the scene of the accident despite attempts by emergency services to revive him. Another person was taken to hospital by the Red Cross. Further investigations are underway.
