No deaths – More than 700 cases of monkey pox in 21 countries

Hundreds of cases of monkeypox infection are now known in more than 20 countries. According to the US health authority CDC, all patients have already recovered or recovered, and according to available information, there have been no deaths.

In the current outbreaks, of the first 17 cases of monkeypox outside Africa, 16 were in men who say they have sex with men, according to the CDC report. 14 cases would be related to travel.

65 cases of monkey pox in Germany

Monkeypox is a less dangerous cousin of smallpox, which was eradicated about 40 years ago. The disease begins with a high fever and progresses rapidly to crusting. Vaccines against the disease exist.

Canada Health Authority: “A worrying situation”
On Friday, 77 cases were counted in Canada, the most in the province of Quebec. Howard Njoo of the National Health Authority described the situation at a press conference as “worrying”. It is feared that the virus will be passed on within families to pregnant women and small children. Njoo pointed out that monkey pox can affect anyone “regardless of gender and sexual orientation”.
