Passers-by had to make a sad discovery in Klagenfurt on Wednesday. They found an abandoned cat in a dumpster, simply left in a shipping box.
Passers-by found the poor animal at Schachterlweg 29 in Klagenfurt, behind an apartment building near the waste containers. There was also food, a bowl, cat litter and a litter box next to the transport box. “Luckily she was found. In the box she would not have had any chance of surviving,” says the Animal Welfare Competence Center in Klagenfurt, where the scared velvet paw is now being cared for.
Suspension is a criminal offense
“Of course the cat is not chipped. “We are now hoping for witnesses and information who may know the tortoiseshell cat or know something about the owner,” hopes Nina Zesar of Tiko, who also emphasizes that abandoning animals is a criminal offense.
“We advise and help even in difficult situations and find a solution. Abandoning an animal is not an option, even if you are overwhelmed,” says Zesar. Information sent to 0463/43541 will be treated confidentially.
