The international sports betting provider should have transferred the 502,107 euros awarded by the court back to the Salzburg father by the end of 2023. The case went through every court for four years before the Supreme Court made a decision. But the once addicted man cannot yet breathe a sigh of relief.
“My client has always been interested in sports and is a big football fan. He then started sports betting through friends,” says lawyer Johannes Koman, who has fought the spectacular case in all cases over the past four years. Koman represents a father from Salzburg, for whom the hobby quickly became an addiction at the end of 2017. “He lost control and sometimes made individual bets with a stake of more than 100,000 euros.”
