Terror alert at the Iranian consulate in Paris: Police launched a major operation after a man was seen entering the building wearing an explosive vest. In the meantime, someone was escorted out of the building; it was probably an opponent of the Iranian regime who wanted to start a protest there.
The streets surrounding the building were cordoned off over a large area and the metro was shut down. An eyewitness reportedly told authorities that a suspect entered the embassy building “with a grenade or an explosive vest.”
Then heavily armed special forces arrived, and a short time later French media showed footage showing a man kneeling on the ground and being led away by two police officers. It has now become known that it was probably an Iranian who wanted to protest against the theocracy.
No explosives were found on the man, but to be on the safe side, the explosive ordnance disposal service of the French special forces was called in. The embassy is now being thoroughly checked.
