Horrible traffic accident Friday morning in the Tyrolean Zillertal: a 19-year-old resident drove his car into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the car of a woman (23). Both drivers suffered significant injuries. The vehicles were totaled.
The fatal accident took place around 5:15 am in the municipality of Fügen. The 19-year-old was driving his car out of the valley on the B169 Zillertalstrasse when, according to his own statements, he lost control of the car due to fatigue and drove into oncoming traffic.
Both steer injured by impact
“That’s where he collided head-on into the oncoming car of a 23-year-old Austrian woman,” police said. Both drivers were injured by the force of the impact. After the first treatment, the young man was taken by ambulance to the Kufstein hospital and the woman to the hospital in Schwaz.
National highway closed for an hour and a half
Both cars were totaled. The B169 was closed to all traffic in the area around the accident site until 6.45am while the accident was recorded and clean-up work was carried out. A local diversion has been set up.
