Residents rescued – fire in Geidorf – Grazer fled to the balcony

There was a fire in an apartment in Geidorf on Monday morning. The resident had to be rescued from the balcony by emergency services because the escape route was closed due to heavy smoke. The cause of the fire is still unclear.

The Graz professional fire brigade was called to a room fire in the Geidorf belt at 8:39 am on Monday morning. A fire broke out in an apartment in an apartment building on the 3rd floor.

There was one person in the apartment when the fire broke out. Because the escape route to the stairwell was already cut off by the smoke, the man fled to the balcony of his apartment.

A fire crew went in using breathing apparatus and extinguished the fire. The resident was rescued with the help of an escape filter hood and handed over to the emergency services. The cause of the fire is currently unclear and remains under investigation.
